LEGAL NOTICE
This is just a reminder for residents in
the Villages of Mazomanie, Cross Plains
and Black Earth that every resident is
required to destroy all noxious weeds
and grasses that are allowed to grow to
a height in excess of eight inches on
lands in the Village which you own,
occupy or control. If an owner or
occupant shall neglect to destroy any
noxious weeds, the Weed Commissioner of
the Village shall give five days’
written notice by mail to the property
owner or occupant of the property that
the weeds are growing to destroy the
weeds and grasses, or the Village will
have the weeds destroyed and assess the
property owner the cost. If the cost is
not paid, it will be assessed as a
special assessment on the taxes.
Noxious weeds are
defined as, but not limited to, Canada
thistle, common ragweed, great ragweed,
leafy spurge, creeping jenny, field bind
weed, goat’s beard, poison ivy, gull
thistle, wild parsnip, bur dock,
cocklebur, pigweed, common lambsquarter,
curled dock, hemp and English plantain.
Noxious grasses are
defined as, but not limited to, Redtop,
Orchard, Timothy, Kentucky blue, Johnson
and Foxtail.
